WNSC Swmin Camp 2014

In February half term, thirty six intrepid West Norfolk swimmers took part in the annual residential Swim Camp held at Culford School, Suffolk.  The camp provides the opportunity for 4 hours of swimming a day, along with cross country running and other specialised fitness activities.  The whole week provides a unique chance for swimmers to improve their times prior to County Championships, along with their general fitness, and time to socialise during evening activities. A mini gala was held at the end of the week with all swimmers producing some much improved personal best times.

This whole week demands a great deal of careful preparation and planning, so huge thanks go to Head Coach, Sarah Vanderloo, for all her hard work. The Club would like to thank the following people for giving up their time so generously to make the week such a success; Lois and Kenny Addis, Becci and Dan Overton, Paul Bryan, Stewart Murray, Beth Smith and Kirsten Venables.

Thank you to Becci and Dan Overton for sponsoring the Swim Camp T shirts which were awarded to all the swimmers.

Junior Fenland March 2014

West Norfolk’s younger swimmers members kicked off the new season of the Junior Fenland League with a trip to March. Round 1 saw them take on Cambridge, First Strokes, March Marlins and St Neots. Under the guidance of team manager, Ryan Sykes, some strong swims were produced from an enthusiastic young team. Some swimmers were in their first competitive league gala, and overall the vast majority of times recorded were personal bests. Competition was strong, with Cambridge taking an early lead and never letting go. However, individual wins on the night came from Jake Lammas, Becky Read, Molly Sharpe and Alex Smith. The whole team performed superbly and take their experience on to round 2.

Many thanks to Ryan and Chris Sykes, Scott Lammas, Sue Read, Heather Randall, Abbie Whiting, and Jake Hall for all their help poolside.

Final Result: 1st Cambridge 183 points; 2nd First Strokes and St Neots 116; 3rd WNSC 113; 4th March 110
