UEA Mini Meet November 2013

The UEA Mini Meet at Norwich, held on November 16th, gave West Norfolk’s younger swimmers a chance to take on other clubs from all over the area. This meet provides an ideal opportunity for less experienced swimmers to gain confidence at a large venue, and improve their times with a view to Club and County Championships.

Over a long evening, West Norfolk swimmers did not disappoint, giving their parents good reason to cheer some superb performances. Eight year olds Daniel Penny and Gemma White both collected three 1st place medals, reflecting all their recent hard work in training. Gemma won the 25m free, fly and back, with Daniel taking the 25m free, fly and breast. Katie Drew (9) took 1st place in the 25m back and free. Lucy White(10) took 1st place in 50m fly, 2nd 100 I/M; Becky Read (11) 1st in 50m fly, 2nd 100 I/M. Abbie Richings 1st place 50m back and 2nd 50m fly. Alex Smith and Jonathon Ivanov came 1st in their age groups of the 50 breast, and new member, Cariad Roberts, won her 25m breast. Many other personal bests and placings  were recorded to complete a successful evening’s swimming for West Norfolk. Full results can be found on the Club website. Many thanks to Coach Teena Venables for another evening of hard work organising the swimmers and coaxing such great swims from them.

Bingo night raises £200 for WNSC

On 28th August 2013, WNSC held a bingo night at Terrington St Clement Village Hall.
The prize bingo nights are run by Julie Gant and her team, fundraising for local clubs and charities. They are a twice monthly event and are very popular within the village. She very kindly agreed to hold one in aid of WNSC.

The Bingo night raised £200 for the swimming club.

The club would like to say a big thank you to NIkki Warnes for arranging the bingo night, prizes and also being the representative from WNSC on the night.

Nikki has kindly agreed to arrange another bingo night early in 2014, during term times.  Hopefully members of the club will be able to show there support for the club and the effort put in by Nikki.

Date to be confirmed
